Dissertation Research Proposal-Compensation & Rewards

A dissertation proposal is a document that will exhibit the writers’ knowledge regarding the topic selected and its key facts and point of views. My dissertation will allow teachers, professors, and others to learn what the work will be focused on, what problems will be discussed, what perspectives will be taken, and how I can use the conclusions in my further studies.  There is no one traditional method of writing a dissertation application. Various variables decide the length of the document, the topic, and other particular criteria.

Here my proposal comprises different subcategories. Initially, a short literature review is conducted, which will help a supervisor’s short review. My supervisor’s suggestions will help me to rectify the errors in my dissertation. I will fix these errors before writing the first chapter (Diaz-Kope, Miller-Stevens and Henley, 2018).  After the introduction and short literature, the objective, main topic, and research model need to be selected. The objective will provide the primary purpose of research, followed by the main topic and research method to discuss the model used to discuss the topic.

My opportunity to state the research patterns, assumptions, and theories is in the literature review section. It will explain how my study varies from different variables and dependents in my topic because it will explain the subject from a different perspective. When preparing the proposal, an oriented and well-defined approach in light of the assessment method and identified sample articulate my research strategy, and chosen research design offered accurate answers to research questions. The data gathering method is well-planned because it involves experimental data processing, statistical analysis, designing, and primary data collection.

Short Literature Review

To express my ideas and assumptions in a literature review, my primary aim is to communicate details to my supervisor and evidence, hypotheses that exist on a subject, and their strengths and limitations. A literature review may be structured around a driving theme, such as a study goal, a topic or concern exploring, or a thesis (Moretta and Buodo, 2020). Not only a compilation of the content available but also a series of short descriptions. My literature review is based on an employee’s financial and non-financial gain from their day-to-day life against their services. Do compensation and benefits/rewards only ensure foreign employees motivation towards work and organization in Malta, excluding other factors is my main topic of discussion in this research work.

Research Objective.

The study goal is to brainstorm various compensation and benefits for the employees who serve their organization with full support beyond their job descriptions. This study initiative will contain a discussion over various environmental conditions in which workers would care for the organization. My main objective is to identify the variables on which employee’s motivation depends (Jaworski, Ravichandran, Karpinski and Singh, 2018). There can be different variables which include working environment, workload, work pressure, organizational culture, and employee succession planning and employees non-financial benefits

Employee motivation is heavily affected by salary design structure. Substantial financial benefits make workers feel good about their jobs and inspire them to offer their full effort, primarily when compensation is directly related to job performance. However, my research work will circle the working environment, workload, work pressure, and organizational culture, affecting employee productivity and efficiency. Overall, pay has a beneficial impact on workers, one way or another.

My research will also discuss compensation and benefits for the employee that remains troublesome because unequal pay for workers is often the product of management prejudice. Different types of allowances are not issued equally. They are based on extra services paid by employees to the organization. In comparison, many workers are not satisfied with the salaries and benefits which they receive. Many of the workers claimed that pay and benefits are only treated as income. Compensation and benefits are generally described as cash received. Thus, companies only have a small viewpoint when it comes to compensation problems for their workers (Kong, Jiang, Chan and Zhou, 2018). A preliminary study has tried to establish a “pay for success” relationship in executive compensation but has so far been unable to locate a direct connection between the wages of presidents and performance metrics. Despite this, poor wages and benefits can trigger low results, resulting in lower satisfaction and increased absenteeism among workers. A poorly handled pay and pension program would leave workers less likely to operate and motivated. It is essential to pay workers for the work that they do. Compensation includes all outside of job workers get in return for their work. When there is an insufficient degree of employee happiness in every company, individual workers may quit the organization. Low turnover has a detrimental effect on the organization’s economic and social structures and will be discussed in my study. The total business performance and staff morale would be decreased due to employee turnover.

Research Question

Do compensation and benefits/rewards only ensure foreign employees motivation towards work and organization in Malta, excluding other factors?

Research Model

The research model will contain a style of reasoning in which conclusions are deduced from hypotheses or propositions are known, which is known as deductive reasoning. In deduction, the theory is evaluated against empirical evidence, while in inference, facts are uncovered, and patterns discovered inside them are investigated. The thesis will begin with the inductive research steps and reverse the order. They validate a new social theory and then adapt it to a broad spectrum of outcomes (Hattie and Jaeger, 1998). The research model is the method of moving from a general to a specific move. Empirical analysis that depends on the inferential study is the most common approach. I will conduct a study of other researchers’ work, reads the most recent theory of the hypothesis being investigated, and discusses theories derived from this theory.

A deductive approach is based on establishing a hypothesis and then designing a research technique to validate the theory. This research work makes an argument that argues that deductive reasoning necessitates reasoning based on concrete examples within a general principle. In some cases, only one theory or scenario can imply a causal relation. A deductive study determines whether job benefits and compensation is related to job happiness and motivation. More factors that involve recruiting, job advancement, and growth opportunities would be included later on to figure out whether these factors impact employee morale.

Research Hypotheses

My research aimed to stimulate fresh ideas regarding educational methods for works providing their services, specifically in Malta.  A literature review exposed topical controversy about existing educational deficits that different type of professional workers exists. Different technical skills have a material impact on professional workers’ pay scale (Hagemeister, 2019).  Data obtained from a sample of 100 works employed in a mixed-gender at a different organization. These organizations vary from sector to sector as the industry norms also affect employee satisfaction. The survey examined individuals’ views with mixed-gender persons as male and female both have a different perspective concerning job satisfaction and motivation. Different types resulted from the questionnaire basis will be extracted from these samples.

My research would stress the pressing need to strengthen related to employees understanding related to their perspective of their motivating factors and the importance of compensation and benefits. These workers will be asked different question-related about factors affecting their motivation. These factors and questions shall not be limited to compensation and benefits and career growth, development, and prospects. Workers and employees will be asked for this factor’s level, which they consider effecting their working environment and abilities to perform in a professional environment. This study’s findings point the path forward to realistic and feasible means of growing and strengthening awareness about variable affecting employee motivation and developing expertise in determining employees’ willingness towards motivation via financial and non-financial means.

Data Gathering Methods

A wide variety of methods for gathering the data can be used to classify its target clients. The primary study involves doing surveys, interviews and Questionnaires. These methods will be applied to different organization workers and professional who will be encouraged to respond to the surveys, interviews and Questionnaires, respectively.

A questionnaire, made up of several questions, is a method that tries to get the respondent to provide details related to their compensation (Lietz, 2010). Our questionnaire may be an open-ended query that integrates several types of questions. By asking in-depth, open-ended questions, respondents can express their views. It is possible to ensure that the data from a questionnaire are obtained accurately.  It can either be considered objective, qualitative, or both.

I will use questionnaires and surveys as the vital testing instrument since significant quantities of information may be gained by an extensive range of professionals from the other staff at different organizations. This work can be carried out on various people, each of which has a slight to different range of impact on validity and performance. The questionnaire and survey outcomes can be rapidly and quickly analyzed by consolidating the responses in Ms Excel format to have a dashboard review. A survey study is known to be a more comprehensive method of testing. When all applicable data has been systematically and correctly quantified, it is also used to compare research and measure development. Objective proof can be used to try out the latest hypotheses and shape new theories. Besides survey and questionnaires, Interview will also be conducted from upper-tier management, which is holding strategic decision-making position related to pay scale such as Head of Human Resources and Members of Board Human Resource Committees (McWilliam, Casey and Sims, 2009). Many of these techniques for performing interviews can be voice files, face-to-face interviews, video recordings, or telephone recordings can be used. These interviews help get first-hand knowledge from the professionals, and a quick answer can be obtained, which cannot be covered or disclosed in the questionnaire and survey.

Methods of Assessment

After collecting 100 questionnaires from different professionals and ten interviews from middle management works, these questionnaires will be consolidated. However, these survey questions are MCQ-based—another section of suggestions on other concepts or perspective to be included in the survey. The questionnaire comprises Multiple Choice and descriptive questions to have complete information related to worker mindset related to their mental attitude towards compensation and benefits. (Gable, 1996). The review subjects’ list would involve questions regarding the existing workplace climate, current ability set, employee output self-assessment standard, and working conditions. Our questionnaire will also contain the impact of recent steps taken by the Government of Malta related to employee compensation and rewards. Any willingness to progress in preparation shall also be discussed in the survey.  After 15 days, these queries will be consolidated and forwarded to an Excel sheet where the answers will be consolidated with the whole audience. Besides, the following answers will be explained with graphs and maps, alongside an excel table. Various answers to various parameters such as age-wise, organization wise salary bracket, Qualification, and gender base segregations. This bifurcation helps identify different life scenarios and experiences under which questionnaires and surveys have been filled up. The study will also contain a Graphical presentation for different variables to present the same for summary purpose.

Besides these, the interview recordings will be consolidated based on the responses gathered. The response is congregated individually and cumulatively to analysis the responses in light of their professional experience and positional designations.

Identified Sample

As we have identified different variables such as age, gender, organization etc., I will be using probability sampling based on probability theory. To be treated as a sample, I will randomly pick the response from each category of variables. The chance of sampling sample reflects the general features of the population as a whole. The sampling is performed by randomly picking a certain number of individuals from the existing group (the sample) and then using their responses to predict the actual position (Care, Csaji, Campi and Weyer, 2018).  A random method where the survey includes random samples will be applied. With the sampling method, numbers will be assigned to a column of Ms Excel sheet.

To conclude, I will work on worker feedback, concentrating on responses from the young generation ranging from 26 to 34, since they are seasoned and youthful staff members.  These staff members are involved in improving their mental attitude towards compensation and benefits. Also, consolidated responses against the interviews will be analyzed as the person interviewed at the well professional and sufficient experience in the working environment.  To pick the most appropriate preparation and capacity growth program, I would evaluate the young generation’s questionnaire and experienced professional responses. The responses from the well qualified and well-experienced staff will be given weightage to help in the consolidation of the final response.

Potential Research Outcomes

I will find additional input from various workers and professional staff who operate in different industries and workplaces when doing this study. Through the help of consolidating data, I will try to find out the main issues of motivation and recommendations of staff that will focus on financial benefits and compensation for remain motivate and consider the working environment, organizational culture, human resource policy and career development. They can learn and change their minds to non-financial benefits as well as to motivate themselves. From the questionnaire and survey assessment, I will extract the analysis by checking the majority of the specific categories’ response.  However, descriptive and one-on-one interviews with professionals will advise me regarding the other non-financial factors affecting the workplace’s motivation. These motivations may include different variables, including career growth, working environment, cultural and workload with pressure.
